RARE c1930 PERUVIAN JAPANESE STYLE STERLING SILVER ART MODERNE WATER PITCHER; HAND WROUGHT CRAFTSMANSHIP; BRILLIANT HAMMERED SURFACE; SIGNED; 34 OUNCES
We are pleased to offer this beautifully hand crafted c1930 Peruvian hammered surface water pitcher.
In the Japanese manner.
It is a superb example of turn of the century Art Moderne silver.
Beautifully hand wrought in gently tapering cylindrical form.
Soft flared upper rim to small lip spout. Allows for the very slow, deliberate pouring of your summer time beverages. As you sit and enjoy the Congressional budget debates and other Reality TV series.
All over hand hamered surfaces. The seemingly endless soft hammer punch marks shimmer brilliantly in the natural light.
The handle in long gently curved rosewood design. Rising from hand hammered post to centre, with twin rod construction. The handle shape gives the visual impression of Samurai sword.
The hallmark "Industria Peruvia Sterling 925" is rubbed, and barely discernile. See image below.
This stunning Peruvian hand wrought Art Moderne taste water pitcher is 12 1/2 inches tall. Exceptionally thick, heavy guage sterling construction weighs 34 ounces.
In excellent condition. Rich, lustreous sterling patina throughout. Stands firm on tray or shelf. Rosewood handle secure and displays deep mellow finish. The rich hand hammered surfaces shimmer in the natural light.
For the discerning collector of the finest hand wrought silver. An exceptional c1930 Art Moderne hand hammered water pitcher. Signed.
This very fine hand wrought sterling Japanese style pitcher sold last month. The buyer returned the pitcher because the hallmark was rubbed. Despite the fact that we state, very, very (very) clearly above, that the mark is rubbed. AND we show an image of the rubbed hallmark.
Fortunately, most buyers actually read our condition reports.
Please feel free to inquire directly about this, or any item we've listed. Whether the item is alone or part of a set. We very much welcome your interest. We are collectors first. As such, we are quite easy to work with.
We happily combine items when shipping, saving you costs. We ship twice weekly, usually US Postal Priority. Fully insured for domestic packages, and air parcel overseas. We charge a bit more than actual cost for custom size boxes, shipping materials and to pay for professional packing.
We make great effort to accurately describe each item listed. Returns are accepted, if either condition, country of origin or dating is significantly incorrect. In such cases we refund your shipping costs as well. Like you, we are only human, and make mistakes. Hopefully, not too many.
Remember, the items you see are antiques. Hence, have an expected amount of wear from normal use. As such, returning an item because we failed to mention the tiniest bit of wear, or barely discernible flaw is not acceptable. Nor do we accept returns based on buyer's remorse. Nor change of taste, or because a buyer did not realize how "small" four inches might be once in hand.

From our personal collection, a fine mid 19th century coin silver basket by Edward & John Moore is illustrated in the cover article in May/June 2008 Silver Magazine.
