Unlike petrified wood from anywhere else in the world, these specimens from a small section of Alabama are found completely covered in sparkling drusy quartz crystals!

Scientists say the sparkling quartz covering the wood was formed when a meteorite struck Wetumpka Al, about 83 Million Years Ago. The heat was so intense that it caused crystals to form as the petrified wood slowly cooled.The Wetumpka impact was the greatest natural disaster in Alabama history. Energy released by the impact was roughly 175,000 times greater than the nuclear explosion in Hiroshima.
Brilliant wood is exceptionally rare as it can only be found in a few counties within small radius of the meteorite site.
A world reknown dealer was quoted as saying,that he has handled petrified wood from all over the world and has never come across any like this. He was intriqued with the fact that the petrified wood not only had drusy crystals covering the exterior, but the fact that crystals also lined the internal cavities.
This material comes from the red clay of northwest Alabama, where it was exposed by heavy rains in a large wash-out. This specimen is truly amazing to see in person and is sure to stand out in any collection.

ThisSpecimen Weighs Approx. 2 Pounds and measures 6 inches Longx 1.5 Inches High x 3 Inches Wide. The top side has two levels the higher level has a sparkling smokey quartz vain. The lower level has unbelievableexposedsheet vain of GLEAMING WHITE QUARTZ(Very Rare). It is actually the first white I have ever found.. There is also two small crystal caverns on the fractor line between the two levels. The back side also has a beautiful 4\" quartz vain.
