Phil Jones AG-300 Super Cub Acoustic / Electric Guitar Amplifier - Mint - : $899.00
Up for sale is a near-mint Phil Jones AG-300 Super Cub Acoustic / Electric Guitar Amplifier, Serial # 0016. This is the best acoustic/electric guitar amp I have ever heard, bar none. The AG-300 is a very high-quality, almost boutique-type piece of gear, generally sold direct from the manufacturer, though I do think there are some retailers out there that carry the Phil Jones line. This amp has 2 channels, each with identical controls: Mute, Low, and High selector options on a mini toggle switch, and Input level, Bass, Middle, and Treble controls. There is an internal Effects Processor with 8 selectable effects which are applied to each channel - I have settled on #4, a nice combo of chorus and reverb. Effects Blend /Level is adjustable, and the controls are rounded out by a master level control. There is an FX Loop (In/Out Jacks) on the top panel as well. Back panel sports an XLR Direct output, 1/4\" tuner output, and 1/4\" Line Output. The speaker complement of this amp is quite innovative - there are 4 5\" front-firing speakers, along with 2 5\" top-firing speakers. This insures that in a tight setup you can hear the amp without having to turn it toward you; it can be on the floor right next to you and the top-firing speakers are aimed at you - very innovative. Ultimately, the sound of this amp is what it\'s all about - and it is quite impressive. Output Specs are said to be 250 watts, but I doubt one would ever get to that level. This amp plays plenty loud; you may not be able to compete with a Marshall stack, but in a church or club situation, you would never be wanting for more power. The top end of this amp is crystalline, just beautiful. The Midrange control has a very wide sweep or \'Q\' to it, and has a lot to do with dialing in your sound, more so, I think, than the bass or treble controls. I have used 4 guitars through this amp; a Takamine SantaFe ESF340C, a Godin ACS Nylon String, Godin Multiac SA, and a Fender Strat. All sounded exceptional, though I would probably not call this amp a first choice for solid-body electric. I can see where it would be a great choice paired with virtually any good-quality hollow-body electric in a jazz setting, and I bet that a Taylor T5 would literally sing through this amp. If you are looking for a no-holds-barred, top-tier Acoustic-Electric amp, this is the one that fits the bill. I have A-B\'d this amp with a Roland AC-60; a nice amp, to be sure, but the AG-300 is simply in another category altogether. Cosmetically, the amp is nearly perfect, with a couple of light marks on the chromed handle pieces. I honestly think that the only way to get one cleaner than this would be to buy it brand new - it\'s nearly mint. Original light protective cover is included, as is a very nice upgraded Monster ProLine 200 Power Cord. Winning buyer will enjoy FREE shipping/insurance in the contiguous 48 states, and I will ship the amp, carefully double-boxed and bubble-wrapped to your Paypal Confirmed Address upon receipt of your Paypal online payment. However, AK, HI or PR winner will pay actual USPS Priority Mail Postage/Insurance. Please note that this is a US-only sale. Do the research and read the reviews - the Super Cub AG-300 is pretty much in a class by itself when it comes to accurate, world-class Acoustic/Electric amplification. Thanks for looking, and Have Fun offerding!
