Beautiful Rare Very Large Wim Mühlendyck Incised Jugenstil Beer Stein PERFECT, c1937,Grenzhausen, Westerwald
Very intricately incised Wim Mühlendyck’s Jugenstil earthenware beer stein with elaborate geometric lines and borders. A rare example and probaly one of the best pieces designed/ madeby Mühlendyck with beautiful combination of colour in shades of browns, back and grey; classic, one-off master piece of the highest quality.
Wim Mühlendyck (1905-1986) ran his potter workshop in Hoehr-Grenzhausen between 1931 and 1970s; he worked in close collaboration with his friend Elfriede Balzar-Kopp. Both artists built their furnaces and experimented with firing temperatures applications and times, air supply and reduction in 1930-1940s and their salt-glazed earthware were highly popular and successful, including the World Exhibition in Paris in 1937.
Sized 170mm wide x 200mm high, approximate weight 1550 grams.
In perfect, mint condition, no chips, cracks, repairs or any signs of restoration; a beautiful museum quality piece.
