Rare 45" PLAINS INDIAN BOW w ORIGINAL TWISTED SINEW BOWSTRING, c. 1880-1900Excellent Condition - Great Patina - Osage Orange Wood This is a rare Plains Indian bow with the original twisted sinew bowstring, circa 1880 to 1900, or so. Bow is made of osage orange wood, and it is 45" long with a "D" crossection that is just under 1" wide and about 5/8" thick. Both ends have carved notches for the string, and it has a fabulous dark untouched original patina from both age and use. You can see the original pith center of the wood branch used for the bow on the inside photos. I assume the string is a bit shorter than it was originally, but any kind of original string is a plus with early bows like this. This was found in New England, and I am also listing a pair of very early blunt tip carved wooden arrows that came with this bow and have the same dark patina.
