.Very very rare!!! and absolutely stunning!!! Balinese Ceremonial Wedding Bed from the central highlands of Bali, Indonesia.

Hatchet carved in the Javanese style from thick and solid old growth TEAK. Perfectly preservedwith an amazing original patina and carving detail. Thatched lattice roof for mosquito netting. Truly amazing that all the parts are there and have survived the years!!!

I purchased this bed on one of my buying trips through southeast Asia. I shared a container with an antiquedealer out of Californiathat specialized in these unusual antique beds. This bed was datedto the late 1800\'s to the turn of the century and had avalue of $9,500 in 2004.

The bed is just shy of an American twin size, just one of the keys in proving authenticity. People 100 years ago in Asia were much smaller thus the small size. (Antique Beds produced in larger current standard sizes from this part ofAsiamust be looked at with suspicion.)
