RareAntique Mander\'s Patent Twist Out Crochet Hook

English*Circa 1860s

This veryrare little crochet hook is brasswith an attractive open spiral design at the top. A brass sheath coversthe steel shank and hook. Twisting the top causes the sheath to move upinto the spiral, exposing the hook. The side of the sheath is marked\"Mander\'s Patent\". Joseph Mander was from Birmingham and applied forhis patent in 1862.

The conditionis excellent with norust orother damage and it works perfectly. The hookis intact and strongand about the same as an American steel size 10. It measures 4 1/2\"long when closed.
