RARE AUTHENTIC c. 1850 IROQUOIS INDIAN SNAKE EFFIGY TALKING STICK n/ WAR CLUB:
$575.00

This sale is for a Rare, Authentic c. 1850 Iroquois Indian (Seneca Nation) Hand Carved Hardwood Snake Effigy Talking / Walking Stick inSolid Original Condition from Private Local Collection. Measuring 41\" in length with a 7\" Snake HeadHandle, this Artifact contains most of its original Barkhas most of its originalBlack paint. Only at the Stick\'s bottom has the Bark and Paint split off. The Snake Head Carving also has 2 small Old Tack Nails for Eyes.

Talking Sticks were often used as Walking Sticks as well such as I believe this Artifact was. Talking Sticks - as the name implies - were used during tribal meetings and only the person holding the Stick was allowed to speak thus ensuring the speaker had the full attention of the others members. This piece is in solid original condition with expected wear and surface cracks.
