The Continental Merchandise Company was an American company that produced some of the most beautiful Japanese made reverse painted early transistor radios. The company also distributed a couple of quite rare tube portable radios ~ including this M-500 model, which is dated circa 1958.The radio is a 4-tube model with a huge and spectacular reverse painted dial.The M-500 is sought after by transistor radio collectors, and bearing witness to that is the excerpt from Eric Wrobbel\'s little booklet about the most collectible Continental radios.(See 7th photo, thanks to Eric.)The M-500 is featured in a number of websites devoted to classicradios, including: class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: auto 0in;\">

This example has a cabinet that is near mint, without any chips or cracks in the plastic. Remarkably, the hinges for the back are intact and unbroken. The chassis is pristine. The only cosmeticdetractor is some discoloration in the tuning dial, and also of note, despite the near-pristine cabinet, thetuning dial shaft has been repaired and isnot as tight as I could be.The radio is not tested, Note: thetan jack with the four terminals (accessed with the flip coveron the back) is not for an AC adapter but is a jack forheadphones.
