Blues Vintage GuitarsInc. is proud to offer this exceptionally ULTRA RARE Gibson USA Les Paul Tribute 1952 Goldtop. Gibson produced this very limited edition model in 2010. They made just six guitars for each year of Les Paul\'s life, which means they produced just 564 of these wonderful guitars (6 x 94 = 564).

But this one is very different. Shortly before Les Paul died on Aug. 12, 2009, Gibson had sent him a handful of unfinished Gibson Les Paul headstock veneers to be signed by him and returned to Gibson. Unfortunately, Les Paul died unexpectedly and never finished signing all of them. Approximately one year later, when Les Paul\'s estate was finally settled, the Les Paul Foundation sent back to Gibson the headstock veneers that Les Paul had signed prior to his death. Gibson, in turn, used those headstock veneers on ONLY six (6) of the Gibson Les Paul Tribute 1952 Goldtop guitars, which were built to honor Les Paul\'s legacy. Additionally, all six of the guitars with the Les Paul signed headstock veneers were given to Gibson company executives as bonuses. They were not sold or distributed to the general public, and one of them still hangs in the office of Gibson president/owner Henry Juszkiewicz at the company\'s world headquarters in Nashville, TN. We purchased this exceptionally rare Gibson guitar from one of the former Gibson company executives who received it as a bonus.

For the record, the veneers were unfinished when they were originally sent to Les Paul to be signed. The ones returned signed were then used on these Les Paul guitars, and finished exactly as any other Gibson is finished. In other words, Les Paul\'s signature is forever protected by a light coat of clear lacquer on the headstock. It cannot be rubbed off, and will not fade over time. His signature will be preserved as long as the guitar is well cared for.

If you\'re not familiar with this model, here\'s what you need to know about it:

First, as mentioned above, there were only 564 guitars produced in this very limited run, all in 2010. They were designed by Gibson\'s engineers exactly as Les Paul himself had demanded from Gibson nearly 60 years earlier. This is the closest guitar Gibson has EVER designed and built to Les Paul\'s original specifications for the original 1952 guitar. The body is golden Mahogany, the top is Maple, and the fingerboard is Rosewood. It is also equipped with the ONLY bridge Gibson has ever built (since 1952) that is an exact replica of the original bridge Les Paul patented himself in 1952. Gibson\'s engineers even stayed true to Les Paul\'s demand that the strings be wrapped over the top of the bridge bar so he could mute the strings with the palm of his hand - something Gibson didn\'t do when the original guitar was introduced. This is why Les Paul decided to submit his own patent for the bridge in 1952.

Other notable details that are true to the original 1952 guitar is the word \"PROTOTYPE\", which is stamped on the back of the headstock, and - of course - a set of original Gibson P-90 singlecoil pickups, which were Les Paul\'s personal preference.

The guitar was briefly played by our technician ONLY to set it up, and to make sure everything on it works and functions as it should. Otherwise, this guitar is in unplayed condition. The former Gibson executive that received this guitar as a bonus does not play guitar. Therefore, the guitar has NEVER BEEN PLAYED with any regularity. Additionally, we never label any guitar as being in MINT condition, so we\'ll stick to our policy and call it NEAR MINT. However, this guitar is as close to MINT condition as any guitar we\'ve ever offered for sale. It is absolutely immaculate, and both sounds and plays fantastic.

It also happens to be one of the rarest Les Pauls we\'ve ever sold. This is a good one, folks. And we don\'t think it\'s going to last very long. Our contact information is above ... please don\'t hesitate to contact us directly with any additional questions. We\'re available at your convenience.

The original black Gibson USA hardshell case is also included.
