RARE! GLOWING HAMMERED GOLD 1930s \"TRUEART\" COMPACT w/ GOLDWASHED INTERIOR

This is a hard-to-find 1930s compact made by TRUEART. It was difficult to find much information on this maker, other that it was in some way affiliated with the Hingeco Company. I found almost no other Trueart compacts anywhere, though they are clearly beautifully made pieces. A nice item for collectors of rare and unusual Art Deco compacts!

It measures 3\" square and is in near-flawless condition. Both the lid and back have a brilliant hammered gold finish that picks up surrounding light beautifully, changing color in response to the light. The finish is just spectacular with its gleaming and glowing gold color and lovely hammered texture. There is a raised rectangular cartouche on the upper left that is unmarked and is smooth bright gold. There are NO scratches, dents or dings.

The sides are smooth gleaming gold with no dents or finish wear at all. The back is exactly the same as the lid, minus the cartouche. The strong hinge runs the entire width of the compact and the clasp opens easily and snaps closed securely.

The interior is a blaze of gold! The fine mirror has a glowing gold-washed frame with no evidence at all of wear. Below, the mirror-like finish on the powder well is in superb condition and is decorated with a small artist\'s palette and brushes and marked TRUEART CREATIONS. Open the lid and you see that the underside of the lid and the base of the powder well are both beautifully gold-washed and have an exquisite glow. No sign of any use at all. There\'s a soft pale pink velour puff topped with textured pink fabric. Absolutely clean on both sides are clearly never used.

This rare and extremely eye-catching compact is a real Art Deco beauty, and despite being about 75 years old, it\'s still in exquisite condition!

I pack carefully and ship promptly. When possible I use recycled packing materials.

Payment is expected within 3 DAYS of sale close. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: Please check with me regarding shipping costs before offerding. Thank you.
