Rare, Hard-to-Find, Large Northwest Coast Native American Serigraph Print on Woven Fabric Signed Tom Speer 1978.
When you touch the painted area the paint is a stiff layer on the fabric. I found the images to be beautiful and a feast for the eyes. The color is dark brown. The fabric color is natural and the weight is heavier weave cotton - not heavy canvas.
In my research I have uncovered a Thomas R Speer in the Seattle Washington area who is affiliated with the Duwamish tribe. He currently is very active in local tribal matters. No mention of him as a artist today. (Note: I have seen some past listings and sales stating Tom Speer is Haida however I\'ve not seen any anecdotal information tying a Tom Speer to the Haida people.)
In my limited knowledge of Northwest Coast Native Art I do recognize the emblem or shield shape that contains all the native motifs as being from the Northwest Coast Native Americans.
Artwork is stretched over wood frame and stapled. Hanging bracket on back.
Dimensions: 36 inches by 52 inches by 3/4 inches. Please be advised when dimensions reach 50 plus inches the shipping costs rise substantially.
Condition: Very Good. During the original serigraph process looks like some paint sprayed a bit down by signature and on other side. Some soiling around perimeter edges of piece. Several marks on image. No holes. No repairs. I did not want to attempt any cleaning.
