Rare VTG Moore-McCormackLines Powder Compact SOUVENIR c. 1940

This rare well made goldtone Elgin American loose powder compact measures 3\" in diameter and was advertised in the late 1940s. The exterior decorated with a silver french enamel and a map of gold-leaf continents of North and South Americas surrounded with two oceans. The Atlantic side inscribed with five Moore-McCormackLines, known for the most famous American Liners in the 1940s.
The compact has a strong hinge and a positive press button catch. This compact opens and closes with press button catch. All mechanical aspects works well. The interior reveals framed glass mirror with excellent reflective surface. The inner lid is in Elgin American signature-engine turned-circular design and opens manually. The center inscribed with Elgin American, made in USA. The compact comes with its original unused powder puff, however the color of the upper part is faded with age. The powder well is unused and very clean condition. The base is inplainemate-gold. The compact is inexcellentvintage condition. It comes in its original felt-wool blackpouch.
