From the estate of the late Dave Higgenbotham owner operator of the Lone Star Rifle Company, one receiver casting for a sporting model rolling block rifle. These are cast from a high quality mold at Thompson Center (T/C). This casting is correct for the flat side #1 and the #1 1/2 sporting model. It can easily be finished to the standard #1 sporting by adding the small shelf at the sides of the receiver ring. The receiver ring is already octagon shape from the mold.It is made on the Remington pattern. All the required screw holes, internal parts etc can be used from the original Remington rifle. The receiver pin holes are located ion the casting. All other holes will need to be spotted, drilled and or tapped. Any standard Sporting model listed above and most full size military receiver will serve as a hole pattern. Simply place the Remington on the casting align with receiver pins then spot the necessary hole centers, drill, ream etc. This is not a drop in part. The proper machinery and skills are required to finish the project. Considering a #1 sporting action now sell in the $750 plus range it can be an interesting way to make a sporting model rifle from military action parts. The casting has about .040 extra material on the sides to allow finishing without being smaller than the originals. The receiver ring has not been threaded. Lone Star Rifles were tapped 1\"-14 TPI. Original Remington rolling block barrels were threaded with a square or acme thread 12 TPI. The Remington proprietary screw taps #11-28 and 15/64-26 are even available from my rolling block parts website. Because this is an unfinished casting there are no FFL requirements for purchase.
