Here is a pre-prohibition American match striker from the American Brewing Co. of Rochester, NY. It measures approximately 3-3/4\" diameter at the base and 3\" tall in size. This item is a salt glazed stoneware manufactured by Whites Pottery Inc. of Utica, NY.
Their trademark shown on this item was the majestic American eagle adopted in 1889. It was at this time that a British syndicate of investors was aggressively buying up many breweries located in the United States of America. At the time, Rochester had four major brewers and the syndicate purchased three of them. The American Brewery remained locally owned and independent. It vigorously responded using patriotic advertising stating it was the only locally owned and not foreign owned.
This item was previously used and overall it is in good condition. It has a small chip along the bottom edge and shown in one of the pictures. It dates back to the period 1889 to 1909 era.
Note: We strive to provide you with the very best quality pictures available on , never intended to be blurry or fuzzy. Should you ever have any questions, please let us know before placing your offer and we will be happy to respond.
Winning buyer pays $12.00 for postage/handling and includes a Delivery Confirmation Receipt for tracking the delivery progress. It will be carefully packed in a box for safe delivery. New York State residents add 8.00% sales tax. Insurance if desired is at cost of the winning buyer.
