For your consideration is a Muhammad Ali Shah Qajar silver coin.

Metal & Denomination: Silver 2-Krans (equivalent to 2000 dinars)

Size: 28 mm

Weight: 9.2 gr.

Obverse: The legend: al-Sultan Muhammad Ali Shah Qajar in the center with crown on the top.

Reverse: Sun and lion holding a sword with the date amidst the legs of the lion. The legend reads 2000 dinars.

Muhammad Ali Shah was only king for about a year and a half, therefore his coins are rare and very sought after. Due to the political and economic climate in Iran during his reign, his coins are crude and weakly struck. This one has nice original patina and toning.
