Scarce Georgian 4 Sided *Barrel* carved QuillKnife
With 48 Radial Opening Blades
This rareand wonderful pocket knife was made by the late 18th century / early 19th
and is a demonstration of thehigh skill attained by the master craftsmith.
We highlight the particular construction of this knife
whose blades open radial on bothends and the unusual 4 sided body shape
giving it the poplar name ofBARREL KNIVES.
The knife has a body made of wonderful natural scales finely carved andcheckered,
with a total of 48 pen blades 24 on each end.
The scales are over brass liners and are fastened with silver *rosettes* decorative pins.
The knife measures about 8,5 cm long with all blades folded.
The knife remains excellent condition especially considering age andtype.
Blades seem to me to be all infull profile or about full and still razor sharp, open and close properly.
Handles are still are clean witha wonderful patina. No chips, cracks or damage.
