This listing is for an authentic vintage sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This wire features a Hiram B. Scutt patent, dated Feburary 10, 1880. This wire is called \"Scutt\'s Original Wooden Block Wire with Arrow Point Barb\", by collectors. (ref. Hagemeier 700-B). This wire features two round twisted together line wires. Barbs are fourpointed made from an arrowhead shaped steel plate. Plate is split at pointed end, insterted between the two line wires, and points bent to hold barb in place. There are two original wooden blocks. These were designed to make the fence more visible to man and animals. Blocks are held in place by grooves on two ends, which holds them between the line wires. Blocks should measure about 1-3/4\" x 1-3/4\". Blocks show some age and use wear, with weathering, splitting, andloss of wood.. Sample is 18-1/2\" in length. Wire shows some age and use wear with light pitting. There is one barb at center. There are no bent, broken or missing points.Wire is in good use condition.
