SHERMAN SMITHEARLY WOODEN ARTIST DOLL

6\" Tall, Signed and Dated

Very hard to findearly artist doll by Sherman Smith.She is 6\" tall and is carved wood; peg jointed at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. Her head isround and somewhat teardrop-shaped (with a little pointed peak which may represent a peaked black bonnet or hat?)with painted black hair and simple painted features. Lower arms and legs are also painted and she hasblack painted slippers. The doll is hand signed in dark ink on the back:

Doll has no clothing (she came to me undressed) and is very clean and in near mint condition.Joints work smoothly; arms move independently of each otherand she is beautifully hand carved. Please see pictures for condition. This doll books for $250 to $300 so here\'s your chance to own a Sherman Smith original artist doll for a fraction of her value. She is a very sweetand early dolland would make a great addition to any doll collection.

This is avery scarcedoll; skillfully hand-carved andvery well made. These dolls are very hard to find! It\'s a piece of artist doll history and you may not see another for a long time.
