TheSerial # EE699325 manufactured on September 13 1948 at Singer\'s Kilbowie Scotland plant . Then it was transported to Singer\'s St.John Quebec factory where some minor parts and Singer\'s 100 Years Anniversary badge has been attached and the additional words \" Made in Canada\" has been stenciled on the sleeve . You could even see that the ink in those words slightly different shade of gold than a rest of the original decal and it is slightly under the angle in compare of the words \"Singer Manufacturing Co\" .

This machine indeed a rare collectors item .

Theindustrial /Family sewing machine Class15 has been introduced in 1879 and holds the honor to be the longest (135 years!) continuously manufacturing sewing machine in the history . This model alsohas a dubious distinction to be one of the most copied sewing machine. In 1970I have seen myself the mass manufacturing of Class 15 PMZ at the former Singer PodolskMechanical Zavod (factory) in Russia This plant has been built there by Singer SMC in 1902 with the intention to supply sewing machines to the entire Russian market, Balkan states , Turkey , Iran , Japan and China . Well , so little did they knew - after that notoriously infamous Russian Revolution Singer basically lost it\'s huge factory there . The Singer factory in St.John supposed to compensate for those lost manufacturing capabilities .After The WWII there were a lot of copies of this truly wonderful machine has been made in Japan and then in China .And evennow they are still being produced inIndia. The Treadle and hand crank versions ! If that facts are not a testimonyof this machine reliability ...than nothing could be .

Afteroriginal introduction in 1879 of 15-1 as fiddle base with long beak shuttlehook sixteen years later in 1895 the new Improved machine withrectangular body and slightly different mechanically class 15 almost as we knowit is now has appeared. And It happened to be the most successful sewing machine design ever.In US and Scotland has been made 84different official modifications of this marvel of engineering Class 15: from 15-1 to 15K191.

About onehalf of them has been made as the industrial version. The Model 15-91 is thelatest modification has the reverse feed dog movement and mechanism which couldmake the feed dog to drop down for quilting.It has all steel construction and the heavy duty vertically oscillating CB(CentralBobbin) shuttle hook and race assembly still being utilized by high speed industrial sewingmachines.Thevertical bobbin offers more direct path for bobbin thread to be drawn up and asthe result the machine is by far better suited for heavier thread. The hinged pressure footclearance is 3/8” in combination with large and heavy counterweight and mentionedabove all steel construction allows to sew very easily heavy layers ofdenim, canvas, belts and numerous layers of light leather. Just look at thephotos attached to see how this machine goes though 4 layers of fabric laminated highdensityvinyl I have used for re-upholstering the case . I have also sewn the heavy leatherbelt , 4 layers of 800 denier Polyester belting.I do not think that you could bedissatisfied with what this machine could sew but If there is still a remote chanceof that and you would need even morepower than this machine effortlessly provides then buy the top of the line walking foot-needlefed-heavy duty industrial machine.

This model15 is one of three the most desirablevintage Singers sewing machines : 1. The featherweight 221 !!! 2.201-2 3.15-91.

Anotherhistorical fact worth to mention : with the Class 15 Singer introduced a newdesign of needle: It is flat on one side of the shank - 15x1. This designbecame the standard needle used not just for most future Singer domesticmachines, but also by almost by all other sewing machines manufacturers. Thesame needle design also known in modern needles classification system as \"2020\".

Theonly four machines 15-91 ,101 & 201-2 and 301 have the direct gear drive motors whichtransfer the rotating motion to the hand wheel through the fiber gear withoutany loss of power due to the loose or stretched out belts .

The cosmetic condition of machine is simply unbelievable - there is absolutely nopaint or decal loss ! I am seriously doubt if one can find another 66 years oldVintage Singer sewing machine inabsolutely pristine condition as this one . Of course, The bad quality of my photos does not help to support my justified claim that this machine is in great cosmetic condition .

The conclusion: The wood case has been re-upholstered in order at least try to be a match for this wonderful machine . The machine has been taken apart ,checked and serviced : allinternal moving parts has been cleaned and oiled, gear mechanism has been packed with the new grease. The shuttle mechanism hasbeen completely taken apart - every single part has been cleaned & polishedand assembled back together . Just look at the pic # - how often can you see that every single part of the mechanism shines like a brand new one The stitchadjusted . The Motor \'s rotor , stator and brushes has been cleaned , the new wiring has been installed on the motor to go to the 3 prong connector terminal . the heavy duty power cord has been installed . Thenmachine has been tested to sew both thin and multiple layers of heavy fabrics ..Pleasecheck my photos attached to verify the machine\'s condition described. Machine sews very well and guaranteed to befully functional and electrically safe .This machine has the sameBakelite foot pedal control as the Featherweight 221/222 and could be used as simple foot operated speedcontroller or you can slide it into bracket inside the cabinet and use it asthe knee operated controller .The 15-91 also has the same as FW 221/222 power cord supply with3-prong terminal .The machine’s head sits on the hinges insidethe carry case but could be very easy removed and install in any Singer cabinet . at present time I am listing another 15-91 in the cabinet but due to the understandablehesitation of potential customers to pay for shipping of large cabinet across country i am offering this 15-91 machine from my collection with carry case . If somebody want this machine in the vintage Singer cabinet ( smaller size as featured in my other sale) I could be able to send that cabinet . It is rather portable -it could be taken apart .

The machine is not only highlycollectible due to the very finecosmetic condition and the fact that thisparticularmachine has been made in Scotland with Canadian badge but also it is indeed THE extremely desirable for it’s very well proven sewing capabilities .

I am a retired textile engineer and sewing machines have always been a part of my job. My background in mechanical engineering combined with some nostalgia, passion and plenty of time on my hands has made the great implication on my current activities – Antique and vintage sewing machine restoration . Overyears I have bought, repaired, serviced and refurbished dozens of machines just for myself and for friends , but now when I am running out of space to store them in accordance with their status, I have decided to begin to offer to you these marvels of old engineering at reasonable price .

MY PROCESS

In order to retain the authenticity of original time-honored design, those fine details which once embellished the antique sewing machines and my own clear conscience, I am avoiding the metal parts and treadle legs refinishing – no stripping to remove the original finish, no rust preventative primer, no decals or clear coating to make it more appealing in a photo.Here is a brief description of my process:If required , I amsoaking all moving parts in WD-40 to get rid of that stubborn solidified whale oil, clean surface with Murphy’s oil soap, high speed polish chrome plated parts and apply a thin coat of a mixture of Boiled linseed oil & turpentine on the originally painted parts and re-assemble machine. The gear driven machines are being properly cleaned, greased and oiled, the timing is being checked , bobbin case or shuttle are being taken apart, cleaned and oiled for smooth thread draw, stitch adjusted to be equal on both sides. If appropriate for that particular model/class, machine is being tested to sew at slow and fast speeds and in reverse on numerous layers of denim to assure it is sewing with ease. For machines with motor /light /foot pedal control the following steps are being taken to assure that machine is electrically safe to operate: the motor, pedal, light wires, are inspected for electrical safety and replaced (if necessary) from the coils to the connector.The foot pedals are being cleaned and adjusted for smooth speed control. The machines I offer for sale are electrically safe and fully guaranteed to sew very well. Please feel free to ask any questions.

PACKAGING :

I will pack all items with a great care. I will appreciate your input prior the sale on how you want machine to be packed and I will try to satisfy your requirements . As the rule ,I will place the sewing machine’s head into the double-box and will use bubble wrap or rags inside the first box . If it would be a treadle or cabinet sewing machine , I will double-box machine’s head separately . I will disassemble cabinet / irons legs (if appropriate), then I will write the instruction with photo attachment of step-by-step assembly process to avoid any possible confusion during assembly . Or if it would be required, I could even crate the cabinet and will place and secure machine head in the double carton underneath Please be aware that ONLY in that particular case some reasonable handling charges would be added to cover the cost of a pallet and wooden boards . I want to assure you I will do everything possible in accordance with your requirements to make sure that your purchase would be safe along the way. I put a lot of effort , time and quality materials into cabinetry restoration process and it would be extremely upsetting to me if the finished piece would be broken during transportation .

If the destination address would be in any states that have a common borders with Missouri I would be willing to drive a half of way from St.Louis toward designated meeting place for safe delivery of the treadle or cabinet sewing machine .
