Here is a nice little stereo tube amplifier made in China for the Chinese market by the highly respected BEZ company. The amplifier is about 10 watts per channel using a pair of 6P14 output tubes in parallel for each channel running Class A. The construction of this amplifier is top notch and the components are of very high quality with the chassis made of thick stainless steel. The 6P14 output tubes are basically the same as the EL84 or 6BQ5. The output transformers are huge for this power level.
I purchased this amplifier from an American audiophile that was living in China and had a large collection of high end tube amplifiers. I knew little about this amp when I bought it except that it sounded really nice for its power. A good friend of mine was visiting (he was the chief hi-fi designer for a high end tube amplifier company in Chino, CA) and he found to our surprise the amplifier was indeed two tubes in parallel for each channel running Class A with no response. He did a bunch of measurements on the amp and determined the frequency response could be improved with a gentle amount of negative response and that the output transformers had a tap for just this purpose.
Using an audio analyzer to determine values, he calculated and added a capacitor and resistor in series with the transformer tap to a suitable point early in the amplifier to implement negative response and now its perfectly flat from at least 20Hz to 20KHz with an improvement heard in the low end response where previously it rolled off a bit due to natural response of the transformers and components. The very slight amount of response used did not seem to otherwise alter the very nice sound of this amplifier. Amplifier will be double boxed with tubes packed separately.
