Up for sale is this US Military Issue night vision Small Starlight Scope Model NVS-500 made by NI-TEC U.S.A with the night time surveillance eye piece. However, with the correct eye piece this is made for a weapon (M16/M203/M49). Item is in great working condition. I have used the PVS-4 Starlight scope several times and I can say this is smaller (probably Generation 2) and works better. Both tube's brightness and optic's brightness can be set. This unit has the range finder optic for the M16/M203/M49 (Photo is of what you will actually see- took me forever to get a decent photo..) This optic option can be turned off or made brighter. IT IS NOT BLURRY--just the picture of it is- best I can do!! SAME WITH THE OTHER PHOTO, just my picture is blurry. This has a very sharp picture. The photos do not do it justice. The lenses are in great condition with very minor wear. The two black spots on the night photo are of particles from the case- they cleaned off.
Item is powered by two AA batteries. The identification plate is starting to come unglued (hence the tape). Also comes with the daylight test cap with three different size holes. Most markings for adjustments are luminescent.
I do not have weapon mounting rails for this but it appears the PVS-4 rails will work. Included are lens wipes and fluid (Older stuff though), Handle, allen wrenches, brush, and a few other screw in items. Case is military grade and marked SEC Standard Equipment Company Wisconsin.
A brief description of usage: Turn it on at night- hold about 3-4 inches away from your face- adjust tube brightness level for your comfort - focus it - and use...
MEASURES 11" long (cover to end of eyelet) and 3 1/2" wide. About 4 1/2 Lbs alone.
*** Please note that the interior padding of the case is starting to deteriorate and will need replaced**
I am not a night vision expert but have 21 years military experience. This is older, but a pretty decent scope. Please check my other weapon style night vision starlight NVS-500 scope that I have listed...
