Steel Drum, red paint, 18\" diameter 18 notes. Says \"Grenada\"on the inside. This is an export steel drum, it does make sound, but is not a professional class drum (pro steel drums cost about $500+). I think this is from the 1950\'s, I purchased it on a number of years ago because I wanted to try playing a steel drum. No stand but has hanging cords on side as seen in pictures. I tapped on the individual note sections and they do make different pitches, but I cannot determine if its in \"tune\" or not as I have no mallets to give it a good ding, but yes it is a real instrument. I had mallets at one time and was learning how to play it, but gave up do to the loudness and the discovery that I\'m not much of a drummer.If you don\'t want to play it you could hang it up in your bar, head shop, or other venue as a decoration for that Trinidad atmosphere your patrons so crave. Who knows maybe it could be a wok (please do not do this unless you clean all the paint off first), or a salad bowl. Go this Halloween as a down-n-out Caribbean steel drum player, decorate it, flaunt it - amaze your friends and rivals as you take the spot light and ding away into the night.
