Swedish Mauser Antique Fine LeatherAmmunition Bandolieror Belt

Manufactured in Sweden for the Swedish Army around the time of the First World War

Up for sale is an antique Swedish Mauser five pouch ammunition bandolier or belt. The ammunition belt was manufactured from well-tanned, russet leather and heavily stitched and riveted to last under hard usage. It has five pockets, each designed to hold five clips of 6.5 mm Swedish Mauser ammunition on five round stripper clips for a total of 125 rounds. The pockets have green canvas gussets on the side to allow for expansion. Each of the pocket flaps are held shut with a leather strap riveted to the bottom of the ammunition belt at the back and threaded through apiece sewn on the front of the pocket. Each strap has two slits that could be slipped over a steel button riveted to the flap. A brass keeper was fasten with two brass rivets to the right side (when worn). A long leather strap was riveted and sewn to the left side. A frame buckle of brass with the tongue on the outside rather than the inside ledge, similar to those used on the rifle slings but larger, was attached and clipped to the tongue on the right.

The ammunition pouch was designed to be worn about the waist with the pockets in front but could be rigged to be worn across the chest. Two square frame buckles held by two leather keepers were riveted to the inside back. These served as attaching points for suspendersto relieve the weight of the belt about the waste. These ammo belts were introduced in around World War !and are typical of the quality the Swedish Army provided their citizen soldiers and militia.

These belts are perfect for the militaria collector, can be used to store and keep handy your ammo at the shooting range, they are great for reenactors and are very popular for use as a costume item (these were used in Star Wars on various villians and are also know as the Boba Fett belt which was used widely by the Sand People in the early Star Wars films). Leather from these belts has also been used for watch bands and other fashion items as well as covers for classic rangefinder cameras by those who value the quality and patina of the leather.

The item in the picture is what you will receive. Item is very old but clean and it has that great leather smell.
