This unit's two bulbs light output (9600 lms) compares to 2.4 phony fluorex "65 watt (=500 watt)"; a 150 watt jumbo size compact fluorescent; 1.2 T5/High Output with four straight 2' tubes; It also produces 1.9 times as much light as a regular two bulb T8 shop light. But the output of our fixture is concentrated in a much smaller area.

Commercial Grade Electronic Ballast for Reliable Operation!

People often complain that the shop lights they buy in stores don't last. They don't like starting in damp or cool basements either. Such shop lights are often bulb eating machines too. Often they use cheap one transistor ballasts that destroy the bulbs due to poor current control. On the other hand, our preheat electronic ballast ensures full bulb life and the ballast manufacturer warrantees the ballast for 5 years!

In our fixture that we havein thislisting, we use pre-heat electronic ballasts that gently heat up the tube filaments and then soft start the bulb with a low voltage. The standard type of 4 bulb T5 ballast would short the pins of the tubes together and impress a damaging high voltage across the tube to started. It is well known that such instant or cold starting employed by competitorsis devastating tobulb life. Plus I've not had good luck with these cheaper ballasts lasting.

Our Apperatured Hood Clears Dust and Heat Our unique hoodhasapperatures to promote cooling air flow and self cleaning. The flow keeps dust from settling on the bulb and reflector. This would cut down light output.

Now it might not be completely apparent from the photo, but light can not directly shoot out the corners. The reflector’s wings overlap to prevent this. Therefore our novel hood operates cooler and stays bright because it keeps clean.

Reflector is Sloped All the Way Around to Deflect Light Down You may see that our reflectors cover both the sides and the ends of our fixture. That’s because light generated by a fluorescent tube leaves in all possible directions. So we need to completely surround the bulbs with reflective surfaces to deliver the most light possible. Low grade grow lights just leave the ends open. So light flies out over the plants and shines on your walls. What a waste! Other fixtures have non reflective box ends. These box light in, trapping it. Our reflecting wings are also steeply sloped. It’s what’s required to bounce light down.

Strategic Design We have cleverly angled the bulbs in our fixture to really let the light out! Most fixtures similar to ours have their bulbs in a slot. Competitors take biax “twin-tube” bulbs, which are shaped like two fingers side by side, and lay them flat against the light fixture. Hence, light is trapped in a pocket between the bulb and the fixture. Theonly light that can escape from the fixture comes from exposed portions of the bulb.What a waste! Light coming out the back of the bulb gets trapped!

On the other hand, our POWER V diagonal mounting is creatively engineered to efficiently redirect light on to your plants from both sides of the bulb. This break through allowed the creation of this potent grow light.

Other Short Bulbs Don't Stack Up We couldn't use most standard straight fluorescent tubes because they just don't make enough light in the short sizes. People have to be crazy to use Giant Jumbo sized compact fluorescent bulbs. They are so, so expensive. These 95 to 200 watt replacement bulbs usually cost about as much as the whole light fixture! And they make less light per watt of electricity.The only other configuration we considered was to use four 2' T5 straight tubes. This would make about 1200 lumens less light than our T5 Biax tubes. Moreover, the ballasts to run four 2' T5 bulbsare not particularly good.
