As designed, the phrases come up randomly. In testing, 9 different phrases were heard in 14 pulls. Stopped the test at that point. I believe from some online research that she has 11 on her record. \"Voice\" isunderstandable. Occasionally their was a growl, found it was much easier to understand when I was holding her head slightly lower than her feet. When in this \"head down\" position she was saying recognizable phrases without the growl.

From a helpful website, I found information to identify versions of the doll. I believe this one has the#1 First Record(the phrases built in for the Prototype and early dolls). Best guess is that she is #3, came out in the first year, 1960. She has open holes on her front. The record inside is likely the black version dated MCMLX (1960).MCMLXis the date on the Patent Pending stamp on her back. buyers are encouraged to their own researchinto these things if they are important to the purchase.
This doll is typical inthat her arms and legs do not match the body, they are lighter and more yellow. There are small marks on the back of her right leg - one high on the hip and others on the calf. Enlarge the picture to find them, they aresmall.
Her face is unblemished, teeth are nice, vinyl is soft. These dolls have a variety of eyes and lashes and the one in this sale has lashes that are individual, thick and perfect. Eyes open and close as they should, and the pretty blue colored irises have darker blue rings.
Cathy has all her hair - she has no empty plug holes.A new owner can give Cathy\'s hair a gentle shampoo with dish soap and curl it with pink sponge curlers.
I\'m not the original owner and therefore I can not determine this particular doll\'s year of original purchase or if any work was done to restore her. She displays well. buyers, please check out all the photos. The dress is of the era. It is similar to the Chatty Cathy Party Dress. The lining of the skirt has tears but I did not remove it as it does make the dress moreattractive and the damage doesn\'t show until you lift the skirt and look for it. The skirt needs washing, I\'m leaving that to the new owner. it has some light discoloration (look closely) and the lace trim has been repaired (nicely done, it is not obvious).
She\'s going to make someone very happy this Christmas. She is looking forward to a new playmate. Who can resist that voice when she says \"Will you play with me?\" \"Let\'s play house.\"
