PaymentShippingReturn PolicyTermsTITIAN VENUS Tropical Hibiscus -- Plant in 4.5\" pot Welcome to my sale! Hibiscus ‘Titian Venus’ has a 7-9 inch orange flower with a red eye and a gold border. It is splashed with yellow in hot weather, as shown here. Introduced in 2011 by Charles Black in California; ‘Saffron’ X ‘Aztec Treasure.’This is a tropical (exotic/woody) hibiscus, not a hardy (native/herbaceous) hibiscus. If you are looking for a hardy hibiscus, please see my hardy hibiscus offerings, which are listed in a separate category within my store. The colors of tropical hibiscus flowers can vary according to temperature. The colors often weaken in cooler weather. Any white or yellow random speckling or splotching may be reduced or even absent in cooler or cloudy weather. As with any plant, the size and coloration of the flower is influenced by the health of the plant. This is a fancy hibiscus, different from the cheap tropical hibiscus that are usually sold. Fancy hibiscus usually have larger flowers with elaborately ruffled petals, frequently have unusual color patterns, and are as easy to grow as the cheaper hibiscus. However, they are more difficult to propagate and they are slower growing. This is why they are more expensive, and why you won\'t see many other sellers listing them on .You are offerding on a healthy, fully established, tropical hibiscus plant (H. rosa-sinensis) in a 4.5\" pot. The second photo shows the actual plant you are offerding on. It is already blooming size, although the quantity, quality, and size of the flowers will increase as it grows larger. It may appear to have been cut back recently to promote branching and facilitate shipping; if so, it will be starting to grow out again when you receive it. It is the perfect size for planting in a larger container on your patio! Tropical hibiscus are woody shrubs that can be expected to grow to 3-4 ft high their first year and bloom continuously if given good care. Ultimately, they can grow 4-5 ft tall or even larger, but they may be pruned and maintained at a smaller size if desired.Certain cultivars of the tropical hibiscus I sell are especially likely to bloom freely--and at a young age. These are indicated with an asterisk (*) at the end of the title. All of my tropical hibiscus cultivars are grafted on \'Pride of Hankins\' rootstock, as this makes the plants much more vigorous and makes them more resistant to soil nematodes and to colder soils during the winter. If you wish to grow hibiscus in the ground in Florida, for example, only the most vigorous hibiscus with the less desirable flowers (the kinds of hibiscus you are most likely to find at a big-box store there) will be likely to survive for long on their own roots--you need to plant grafted plants of all of the hibiscus cultivars that I offer if you expect them to live a long time there. Because of the cold northern climate here in Iowa, plants that are purchased from me during April and May will have necessarily been grown in an indoor environment and will need to be placed in the shade for about two weeks when they are placed outdoors, in order to allow the leaves to adjust to direct sun without burning. It is important to wait for consistently warm weather before placing tropical hibiscus outdoors, as they are easily damaged by cool weather (below 50ºF), especially if they are young plants. Tropical hibiscus will grow in full sun but will grow best if given full sun during the morning and light shade in the afternoon. If you have very mild winters with very little frost and few nights that drop below 50ºF, you may be able to plant them directly in the ground, but most people love growing these hibiscus in containers--indoors during the winter, outdoors in the summer--and enjoy the flowers all year (although blooms will be sparse and often poorly colored in the winter). Like all hibiscus, they need constant moisture but must have good drainage and must never be allowed to stand in saucers of water. Unlike many other patio plants, hibiscus thrive in hot weather and keep looking better through the summer. Complete care instructions can be found on the link listed on the left navigation bar of my store. Please contact me if you have any questions about this listing. Please check out my other listings! Your satisfaction is important to me. If you are not happy with your purchase(s), please email me immediately. I guarantee that the plants will be in good condition up to 48 hours after the first attempted delivery to the location specified on the package. All damage claims must be submitted during this time. The occasional broken leaf or branch is expected, and is not considered significant damage. I guarantee all of my hibiscus to be true to name but I cannot guarantee that a flower produced by your plant, grown under your conditions, will match the colors of the photo(s) shown on this listing. For example, blues and reds may be pink and browns and greens may be yellow under suboptimal growing conditions or on young plants. Note that glass blocks the ultraviolet radiation these plants need to produce some of the floral pigments. Please do not expect ideal flower coloration until the plants are at least 2 ft tall and growing in full sun outdoors in warm weather. My plants are grown in a licensed, state-inspected nursery. Shipment to U.S.A. destinations only (any location with a Zip Code and delivery by USPS). I block foreign offers and purchases but I can unblock international buyers if delivery is to a U.S.A. destination. Thanks for looking!
PaymentYou are expected to pay for the item or email me to make other arrangements within 15 days after you commit to buy the item. This gives you time to offer on listings that may appear in the two weeks following your initial win, allowing you to save on shipping charges. I expect you to use this time to accumulate purchases, unless you want shipment sooner. Remember, please wait until you are through shopping before paying in order to receive the correct combined shipping charges on your purchases when you check out and to keep me from shipping you a box before you want me to. Your combined shipping charges will be calculated correctly by only if you pay for all of the items together on one invoice, which will be generated automatically for you in \'s checkout process (there is no need to ask me for an invoice if you are paying for everything that you want in the box). If you want to combine paid and unpaid items in the same box, you must ask me for an invoice for the unpaid items before paying, or you will pay too much for shipping. ShippingI am trying hard not to make money on shipping, in order to be fair to you. I am using \'s calculated USPS Priority Mail shipping (transit time usually 2 days, sometimes 3; you will automatically be sent tracking information by ). I cannot state combined shipping costs here because they depend on the distance the package travels, but I provide this information on my “Hibiscus Information” webpage, which you can access via a link on the navigation bar on the left side of my storefront. automatically combines and discounts your shipping for multiple purchases when you check out. You will not see these discounts until then unless you “check out” without actually paying, then use your browser’s back button. Priority Mail shipping charges go up only as you exceed each whole pound (16 oz) of weight. Please don’t worry about how many items can fit into a box--that is MY problem--there are no limits! This item weighs 20 oz (1 lb 4 oz), with packaging.Return PolicyReturns are allowed only if shipped within 14 days after delivery. Please email me before returning items. Only the value of the plants can be refunded or exchanged. Original postage and return postage cannot be refunded.TermsBy offerding on or purchasing this item, you accept the fact that I use unmarked, uninsulated boxes and you acknowledge that you are responsible to promptly find or claim the package and care for these perishable plants. requires me to ship within my stated 5-business-day handling period, which starts with your payment. It is your responsibility to withhold payment for the order, within the 15 days allowed for payment, if the weather will not be good on your end, and to not offer or buy if the weather is likely to be unsafe there during this 15-day period. Most damage due to excessive heat or cold occurs in the final delivery vehicle, or after delivery to a mailbox or to a porch. This can be prevented by marking on the box “Hold at P.O. for addressee,” which I can do on request, or partly prevented by delivery to a climate-controlled area, as at a workplace or business address with indoor mail room. I can also, on request, mark the box “Deliver to door,” if this will help to prevent the plants from baking in the sun in a mailbox. USPS Delivery Confirmation is proof of delivery. I guarantee that the plants will be in good condition up to 48 hours after the first attempted delivery to the location specified on the package. Damage reported later than this will be considered your responsibility, as I cannot be responsible for your growing conditions and practices, or for your failure to find or claim the package and care for the plants. Buyers who receive adjustments resulting from their disregard of any of these considerations may be blocked from offerding or buying. I have the right to require photos and/or require that plants be returned, at the buyer’s expense, before any adjustment is made.Visit our store!© David Thompson\'s Plants
