This is a very nice example of a U.S. Civil War War-Time Model 1860 Cavalry Sword. This particular one although now in \"attic condition\" does remain nice, and is untouched with the lovely aged patina still present. It is mounted with a slightly curved blade that measures 35 inches in length which is well marked by the maker \"Mansfield and Lamb\", as well as is dated \"1863\" and the blade has survived in wonderful condition with only minor surface staining. The brass guard also remains very nice with no bends but with a rich, thick aged patina now developed and frames a beautifully weathered leather wrapped hilt. The bottom portion of the metal scabbard is broken away, however the throat section as well as both carrying rings remain present and the scabbard has also deeply darkened with age.
