This sale is for a U.S. M4 Bayonet manufactured by theUtica Cutlery Company. It has aone-piece wooden handle / grip with acoarse cross-hatched checkeredpattern. The bayonet was probablymanufactured near the end of World War II. For its age, the bayonet appears to be inreasonably good condition.
The bayonet has a M8A1 scabbard. Marked on the scabbard’s throat plate are theletters “WD”, which apparently designates the manufacturing company. Unfortunately, little is currently knownabout this company. Stenciled on theback of the scabbard are the letters, “MRT”, which supposedly means MildewResistant Treatment.
Attached are twelve pictures of the bayonet and scabbard.
