Ultra Rare Ericsson 1889 Model #1 "Pulpit" Wall Telephone

This is a stunningly beautiful and extremely rare Ericsson Model #1 wall telephone which is now nearly 127 years old. This model is sometimes called a "Pulpit" because it resembles the ornate pulpits found in Scandinavian cathedrals. The case is polished walnut and marblized veneer with brilliant original brass and nickel plate.

This museum quality telephone has the serial number 23384 and original Ericsson factory label which date it to October 17, 1889. This was the first year for this style that is taller than both the earlier 1882 type and also later models.

Special features of this telephone are the original Ericsson coal grain transmitter, earlier type outside terminal receiver, gorgeous and rare original walnut pointed crest and the special bell cover marked "L. M. Ericsson & Co., Stockholm" but with the early circular recess for the telephone company logo. The battery cover is totally original with factory wood grain and transfers. There are old high quality repairs to splits that run across the writing slope that is typical of this age telephone but the marbleized veneer is still strikingly beautiful.

The phone is is 29.5 inches or 75 cm tall by 7.9 inches or 20 cm wide. It weighs 18 lbs or 7.8 kg.
