This lot features a lovely old-time airmail label. The Catalogue of Airmail Labels notes that it was issued in 1920, which means that it is over 95 years ago! The Catalogue notes that the label was the second design issued for France. The rectangular label has perforations like a postage stamp and it measures 24 by 40 mm (7/8 by 1 ½ inches). The design is very lovely and features the WWI ace, Guynemer. The label is listed as FRA-A-2 in the Catalogue and it is given a FOUR STAR rating. The Catalogue notes the label is VERY SCARCE.
