I recently bought this unused clock movement from the estate of an avid clock hobbyist. It had been neatly stored for decades along with many other clock bits & pieces. Included are the movement, pendulum, hands, and suspension arm all still in factory packaging
I tested this movement by simply assembling it, winding it and setting it on a shelf for a week. After 3 minor adjustments it kept perfect time and struck properly for the whole week. All of the parts look as new and will be shipped inside the original shipping container.
The movement was marketed to clock builders sometime in the 1970s & 80s by the U.S. firm of Mason & Sullivan, but it was manufactured by Hermle, one of Germany\'s oldest and most respected clock makers. The imprint on the back plate reads:
81
MASON & SULLIVAN
Made in West Germany
141-070
29 cm
136
This movement has a single striking hammer for a gong or bell, and functions on the hour and half hour. The plates measure 3 1/4\" wide x 3 7/8\" tall and the thickness from the front of the winding pegs to the back of the hammer is 3\". The overall width of the mounting brackets is about 5\". The overall length of the pendulum plus suspension arm is 9\" allowing the 2 3/4\" pendulum bob to drop to 5\" below the movement.
This would be a great movement for your one-of-a-kind project or a fine replacement movement for an old wall clock.
