Rhino mounts have been the standard night vision helmet mount for the better part of 20 years. They are rugged, easily serviceable, vastly numerous in quantity fielded, cheap to obtain compared to other options and basically work great – for about 20% of the user base. For everybody else they SUCK. Seriously, ask yourself, how bad does a $250 product that people get issued to them have to suck for people to run out and spend as much as $500 of their own money to fix the problem with the mount? That\'s a lot of sucking.
So what is so bloody awful about this mount that otherwise rational people will spend a ton of money to buy new mounts for themselves or their unit when seemingly perfectly good mounts are available for no cost? No vertical adjustment. If your head isn\'t built in a particular way, you will never get the stock mount to put the goggles directly in front of your eyes. Never. Until now that is!
Our friends at AB NightVision Inc have come up with a vertical slide adapter for the standard Rhino helmet mount and it makes the Rhino adjustable in exactly the manner it always needed to be. Front and back adjustment was always there. Tilt was always there and most people ended up using it for the vertical adjustment as well. Now with a true vertical adjustment the Rhino mount is finally the mount it always could have been. Best news is that the Vertical Slide Adapter allows users to upgrade their existing helmet mounts for a fraction of the cost of buying a new mount
The Vertical Slide Adapter only adds 32 grams (1.1 oz) of weight to the helmet mount, but allows for 1.3 inches of vertical adjustment. It is very slim, at only 3/8 of an inch, so it won\'t push the unit too far out from your face. The unit is CNC machined from aircraft grade aluminum and hard anodized for excellent corrosion resistance. Latching springs and mounting screws are stainless steel. Kit comes with everything needed to upgrade your existing A3256368 helmet mount.
