Features:This following listing is of a Very Large Antique Early Dolly Madison China Doll with Antique Body and Clothes. Rare for her size. Large heavy china china head which in some light appears to have a slight tint by since I don\'t always see it, I can\'t be certain there is a tint. She is wearing an antique, possibly original but definitely appropriate outfit which consists of a brown and black floral dress with antique underclothing. Body appears antique underclothing. Body appears antique and handmade with leather lower arms and hands. Has old if not original under-clothing. Molded hair and face with black wavy short cut and painted blue eyes. Her hair has a ribbon which goes around the head and ties with a bow in front. The ribbon is the same color as the hair so tends to be difficult to see. Similar doll is seen in the book: CHINAS Dolls For Study and Admiration by Mona Borger; pp. 146. The body is old but not sure if original. Someone past had created socks/boots. The age of body is difficult to determine since families often purchased the head separate and made the body and clothing. Heads this large are not very common.

Age: Later Mid - 1800s (1860-80s).
Condition: Condition is subjective but item is used and wear is evident as seen in the photographs. No cracks or hairlines in the head. The hair has chipped glaze/color and factory flaws including thin painting and thick painting and rubs. The largest chip is behind the tallest curl with tiny chip(s) which are not as noticeable unless searched for. Some stains on body, tears in dress and corset cover (no corset).
