Both Pup and Leeproduced enameled pieces in the 1960s, and it is impossible to tell which one made it, as the signature is the stamped McCartys that they used on their metalwork and jewelry. This bold design measures 5 and 15/16 inches in diameter, and it is unusual to see this type of work by the McCartys offered at sale.
McCartys of Merigold, Mississippi, haspieces in the Smithsonian Institution, and their work has graced the Oval Office for 3 Presidents of the United States. Pup and Lee McCarty were extraordinary artists, and their following has always been strong, but the publication of the recent book about their work has sparked renewed interest among collectors.
