SLIM JIM J POLE vs. THE STANDARD J POLE ANTENNA

The basic difference between a standard J Pole antenna and the Slim Jim J Pole antenna is the radiation pattern and the vertical angle of radiation. The standard J Pole antenna has about a 30 degree vertical angle of radiation while the modified J Pole called the Slim Jim\'sangle of radiation dips down towards the horizon an additional 9-10 degrees, giving the Slim Jimadditional apparent gain over theJ Pole antenna. An apparent gain of 6db is gained when the angle of radiation is pulled downwards towards the horizon and elongated. This gain is achieved when the antenna is properly fed and mounted. Allantennas are sensitive to nearby objects including the ground. J Pole antennas should be installed at least two wavelengths above earth ground and six feet away fromobjects such as walls, trees, and especially metalobjects.
