Up for sale is this used Vicmarc wood lathe. It was part of the contents of an estate we purchased and as such, the history of it is unknown. The lathe does not have a drive motor but there is a drive belt present; it comes as shown without any additional parts or accessories. The overall cosmetic condition is fair as it has numerous blemishes in the finish and active rust on unpainted parts. Undoubtedly, a good cleaning and fresh paint would go a long way on making it presentable. Mechanically, it seems to be sound as both shafts turn freely without noise or roughness and there is no indication of worn bearings. The rail is smooth and the parts slide along it well. There are no cracks in the cast iron construction nor are there any past repairs. The lathe does not seem to be twisted or sprung. I put a level across it and it all looks good. It sits level and does not teeter. No drilled holes that are not factory made. Shipping weight is roughly sixty pounds.
I really do believe that this lathe has seen very little work. I have owned it two years and the man who owned it previously had been sick for a couple of years so I doubt if he worked it much. It could be that he bought it used and never did anything with it as I found no other pieces for it nor were there any pieces of wood or turnings that one would expect to see a woodworker have around. It was stored in a damp, closed up trailer which explains the surface rust.
