Vintage 1935 Ohio Art tin-litho child\'s toy tea set \"Cinderella\":
$220.00

This is a very sweet and pretty set that Ohio Art manufactured between 1935 and 1937. It illustrates the story of Cinderella, complete with rhymes on the saucers, plates and trays. The images are clean, simple and beautiful and all backgrounds are salmon pink.
Up for sale is a 13-piece set, which includes: two cups, two saucers, four plates, one teapot, two creamers, one small tray and one large tray. \"The Ohio Art Co. Bryan, O., U.S.A.\" is printed on every piece. The set is in good to excellent condition.
SCENES:Cups: The same scene is on both sides of the cup: little white mice surround a pumpkin.Saucers: The Fairy Godmother stands in the center, waving her magic want. A pumpkin is behind her, and white mice scurry at her feet. The following is printed around the rim: \"The Fairy-Godmother, in her approach/Changed mice to horses, and pumpkin to coach.\"
Plates: A blonde Cinderella stands against a brick wall, with a fire burning in the hearth. She is dressed in a tattered green dress with a white-and-red checked apron. A bucket and mop lean against the wall. Poor cinderella is crying. The rhyme around the rim reads, \"Cinderella in sadness had to work all day/While her sisters reveled in fun and play.\"Creamers: The same scene on the cups is on the creamer.Teapot: Starting at the handle and moving clockwise, we see the pumpkin coach with its white horses heading toward the castle, ensconced in the woods.Small tray: Cinderella sits in front of the fire wearing one work shoe and the the glass slipper. A young page stands in front of her and points to her foot with the glass slipper. The rhyme, printed at the bottom, reads, \"The ladies all tried in the slipper to squeeze/But if fit Cinderella with perfect ease.\"
Large tray: Cinderella, in a wide-skirted green dress and with feathers in her hair, loses one of her shoes as she runs from the ball A clock in the background reads midnight. The rhyme, at the bottom, says, \"At the stroke of twelve she ran from the ball/And lost her glass slipper near the clock in the hall.\"
DIMENSIONS:Cups: 1 1/4\" tall x 2\" diameterSaucers: 2 1/8\" diameterPlates: 4 1/4\" diameterCreamers:1 1/4\" tall x 2\" diameterTeapot: 2\" tall x 5 1/4\" wide (end of handle to tip of spout)Small tray: 7 3/8\" x 5 1/2\"Large tray: 10 1/8\" x 8\"
CONDITION:Cups: One cup has a couple of tiny flea bites on the image. There is rim wear and wear along the edges of the off-white handle. There is a 3/8\"-long scratch below one of the mice to the right of the pumpkin. There is also rim wearand wear along the edges of the off-white handle.Saucers: There are very tiny flea bites on both saucers, as long as rim wear. Both saucers also have some dings, one more than the other.Plates: All four plates have rim wear as well as some small areas of litho loss.Creamers: There are the most minuscule flea bites on both creamers. There is also rim wear and wear along the edges of the off-white handles.Teapot: There is some wear around the opening at the top of the pot and along the rim dividing the top and bottom. I see no litho loss on the image, though there are very tiny areas of paint loss on the bottom half, the spout and handle. The handle is also slightly dented.Small tray: There is a minimal amount of rim wear and only a couple of small scratches on the litho, most noticeable in the blue hearth. Other than that, the litho is perfect. There are a number of small dings on various parts of the tray.Large tray: There is some wear along the rim and a couple of very tiny scratches around the rhyme. The rest of the image is in perfect condition. There are some dings, however, on it.
