Vintage 1950\'s wood and metal milk crate from Penn Dairy of York Pennsylvania. The heat branded printing on both sides reads \"Penn Dairies, Inc., 6 - York, Pa., 55\" for 1955. Each corner has a reinforced metal riser bracket that makes these crates stackable. This very heavy and well-made crate measures 15\" by 12 1/4\" by 10 1/2\" tall (with the metal riser brackets included). The inside top of one side is stamped faintly with \"Cumberland Case Co., Chattanooga, Tenn.\" The sides are made of wood with reinforced metal corners and a heavy wire bottom. There are 4 factory handle cut-outs on both sides and both ends. There are 3 layers of heavy wire partitions with vertical metal supports. This set-up holds 12 glass quart milk bottles. The crate displays beautifully with bold printing (black color has faded) and great wood grain patterns. The wood graining would probably be more visible with a linseed oil or other wood conditioner application. The crate is in very good to excellent used condition with great patina. It will need a minor cleaning. It is a great retro mid-century modern item for storage - wine rack, firewood, flower vases, micro-beer brewer, garden tools etc. This item is sold as is and as pictured with returns not accepted. $25.00 postage.
