Vibrant white porcelain Foo Dogs with 24k hand-painted gold highlights and all over moriage decoration. These vintage Japanese foo dogs shishi lions are an excellent example of colorful Kutani style moriage porcelain with over-glazed enamels, painted by hand with great artistry. The glossy body is a textured white color, with fanciful raised moriage relief designs in classic Kutani colors of persimmon, green, blue, and white. These are male foo dogs, poised with their their foot on a sphere which traditionally represents the world or the home. The spheres are reticulated with decorative cuts in a geometric pattern known as the \'Flower of Life\'. There are many generous hand-painted 24k gold decorations and accents that complete these handsome pieces. These beautiful foo dogs lions measure approximately 7.5\" in height; 6.5\" in width; and, 4.5\" in depth. They are both in excellent condition; no noted cracks, chips or repairs.
