Vintage country boy and girl chalkware hand painted wall plaques. These may originally have been intended to be string holders, but I am not sure. They remind me of Heidi and Peter from the book \"Heidi\" by Johanna Spyri, or Anne & Gilbert from \"Anne of Green Gables\" by L. M. Montgomery. Looks like they have been out in the countryside picking flowers.
Very detailed painted faces with pearlized paint on the scarves and flowers on their bonnets.
Both have blue eyes, rosy mouths and cheeks, blondish brown hair - very nicely shaded. The bonnets look like real straw and the flowers are also nicely painted.
Measurements are about 10\" tall x 8\" wide
There are tiny chips on the edge of the girl\'s bonnet, and small paint loss on the ribbon. That is to be expected with this age chalkware. There is paint on the top of her hat (pic #7), not sure if that happened after it was painted or not. Still in really beautiful condition. I have had them in storage for almost 20 years - nowhere to hang them, unfortunately.
