This is truly a western piece of hand forged historical art, as far as I\'am concerned. Used by the legendary cowboys of the old west. It was common for some ranchers when choosing what type of brand to design for their herd. It was typical for a rancher to design their branding Iron, base round their character of who they were as a man,or what they stood for. As in this case its the \"ACE of DIAMONDS\". He wanted a brand that when someone on the open range seen it, that they new right away who was the owner of the cattle. Also design it in such a way, that would make it hard for someone to add a piece of metal to it and change a letter for exzaple, a \"F\" into an \"E\" or an \"A\" into a flying \"A\". Judging by looking at this brand, I assume that this ranchers favorite past time was playing cards in town with his buddies. That is how he came up with the \"A / DIAMONDS\". He wanted not just strangers to know what kind of a man he was, but cattle rustlers as well. The sloping direction , or the slantwise of the whole entire brand on a 45 degree angle, to symbolizes running. In my opinion, and that\'s all it is. In his very unique way he was trying to tell everyone, friend or foe. If I catch somebody stealing my cattle or my rancher friends and myself see them in your possession. I will!! run!! you down, track!! you down. Then when I catch you, and I will. We will have are self a \"neck-tie party\" and will hang you one by one, from the nearest tree that can hold your weight and you can be sure of it. I believe this is the story behind this unique history filled branding Iron. It was not like it is now where someone is put in prison on death row, and were going to feed & clothe them for the next 15 to 20 years. The branding Iron in  total length is 34 1/4\" / The brand itself is 7 1/4\" Long x 4\"at its widest point. / Total weight of branding Iron is 5: 8.6 Lbs. Being lighter than most of branding Irons. It can\'t be to heavy if you was to work all day with it. / The shaft or handle is 1/2\" in diameter. Please take note of the brand itself. In the pictures you can see, I hope. The metal that was used to make this branding Iron, was made out of something that was just laying around the rancher property. Like I said I hope you can see this on your monitor, the way the metal on the brand has a gradual taper to it. This to me, being from a farming back ground, is something that came off of a old plow, or some type of old farm machinery back then that the rancher did not need. I don\'t see this rancher going in to town for new metal to make his branding Iron. So there it is. Please I will not be accepting any offers on this item. These unique and authentic branding Irons are going to be a super, hard to find item as well as costly. There going to be bought up by collectors and others that want to leave many of stories along with the branding Irons to their grandchildren, and their great grandchildren so they never forget that times were hard back then.
