Antique toaster - art deco 1938 - in Smithsonian see description from the museum below.
My grandparents toaster - found in storage. Cleaned up nicely - oiled the bakelite and shined the chrome. Condition - ding in top Surface wear on the chrome. see picturesTimer works
Smithsonian - National Museum of american history descriptionDESCRIPTIONElectric top-loading two-slice toaster. Chrome-plated steel body, rectangular, streamlined shape, with Art Deco style circle and line motif debossed into sides. Flat, molded, brownish-black bakelite handles on either side, each embossed: “TOASTMASTER/REG.U.S. PAT. OFF.”, one handle pulls down to load toast. Below handle is temperature gauge, molded black bakelite knob with pointer, body is debossed “LIGHTER/DARKER”. Power cord attaches on opposite side, reddish brown woven cloth with gold specks, molded black bakelite plug, two-pronged, embossed: “BELDEN/UL/1,858,196 PAT. NO’S 1,858,197”. Black bakelite base, curved corners. Metal underside has applied sticker with instructions on cleaning, “Good Housekeeping Institute” approval mark. Attached metal plate is embossed/printed: “MANUFACTURED BY McGRAW ELECTRIC COMPANY/TOASTMASTER PRODUCTS DIV. ELGIN, ILL.
