Vintage Blenko John Nickerson Clear Glass \"Recumbent bowl\" Signed/ dated 1989:
$699.00

This is a gorgeous art glass vessel designed and made by John Nickerson. Nickerson a member of the Blenko four...an iconic figure in American glass design. From 1970-1974 he was designer in residence Blenko Glass Company. During his 4 year tenure he designed over 150 items and introduced the first Blenko designs to include an internal colorway; the Charisma line. He had always been interested in the altering of blown glass forms by cutting faceting, grinding and polishing...and so the story goes with this exceptional vessel. This is a clear glass recumbent bowl...so named because of how it sits... repose...the state of leaning. This is approx. 5\" tall x 7\" wide made of clear glass which is first hand blown, cut and polished. It has a magnificent nuance of thick and thin... the fluidness is quite extraordinary! In excellent condition. It is signed and dated Nickerson 1989...an early example. He had the opportunity to visit Boda (Sweden)...they have always had a long tradition of altering blown glass forms. Once there he was disappointed to discover these items were no longer made. When ask why? he was told \"Because it takes to much time.\" He likes to say, \"I would like to think my work represents the time taken.\" An exceptional example of his work...a Rare wonderful find! Smoke/pet free. Thank you for looking! Happy offerding! We kindly accept payment no later than 3 days after close of sale.Shipping to include amazing packaging and insurance.
