You are offerding on the salvage of a used and previously owned BLESSING MARCHINGBARITONE, this is a professional, full size, band instrument. It is in poor to fair cosmetic condition, and is being promoted as a salvage or parts instrument. New these identical instruments sell for upwards of twenty-five hundred dollars. We bought it right, and are selling it herein for the right money as well. It very well may be restored to its original grandeur, but, we do not have the time, nor the expertise to do so. Your favorite music shop may be able to do this for you over the course of the summer and a very reasonable price. Show him our ad, show him the photos. The case is also better than average inside and perhaps in itself it is worth nearly half of our sales price.

The Blessing is one of the most popular Marching mellophones on the market, and as we understand, is still being produced and marketed today. We acquired it several years ago in a lot of surplus propery from a Florida Public School District.We\'re presenting this vintage marching band instrumentat a very reasonable price with the hope someone has the ability, or will have it fully and professionally restored, thus saving hundreds and hundreds of dollars. We wish to point out that this instrument is being sold as parts and or salvage. It comes with NOmouthpiece, missing valves, amazingly a fairly decent hard case (needs handle), and of course in need of some major attention. We also wish to point outthat the gallery photo and all the other photos within this ad, are indeed the exact instrument and case you will receive.

We have copied below some additional information obtained through the Internet and the manufacturer of this instrument on this particular instrument. We hope that it will assist you in making your purchasing decision.

This high quality horn will provide years of marching entertainment. It is fun istrument to play and when restored and repaired, will have a great sound and will add a unique deeper sound to the brass section. Features a 10 1/2" bell, .468" bore, Monel Pistons, 6MEL mouthpiece, case. Key of F.

Blessing is a company in the music business who puts the music ahead of the business. They make trumpets for pros that can captivate a symphony hall audience or “rip” in the high register for commercial work. Their student horns blow easily and can take a beating. Blessing offers trumpets, cornets, flugelhorns, trombones, and marching brass instruments, all made in Elkhart, USA. Their Great Grandpa Emil came from Germany and started it all, in 1906. Three generations of the family followed, making Blessing a household name in the world of brass instruments. Newly owned by Powell Flutes and operated by folks obsessed with quality.

The mellowphone is a three-valved brass instrument in the key of F or B-Flat used in marching bands and drum and bugle corps in place ofFrench horns. These instruments are used instead because their bells face forward instead of to the back (or to the side), as dissipation of the sound becomes a concern in the open-air environment of marching. Also, tuning is done solely by adjusting the piping, instead of adjusting both piping and hand position as on the French Horn. Fingering for the mellophone is the same as fingering for a trumpet. Mellophones are difficult to keep in tune and are very loud, which is why they are used almost exclusively in outdoor settings. Mellophones are considered to be "middle" brass, not high brass like trumpets or low brass like tubas.

Owing to its use primarily outside of concert music, there is not much solo literature for the mellophone, other than that used within drum and bugle corps.

Cosmetically speaking, this instrument... is inpoor to fair/good condition. Please also note that there is NO mouthpiece being included. This instrument, with the addition of a mouthpiece, and the aforementioned needed repairs, will most likely make an ideal first or starting instrument for a younger student, as the scratches, dings and dents are alreasy there! Likewise for the accomplished high school student, who\'s looking for theideal "beater" instrument to supplement his/her orchestra horn, when he/she is marching on the football field or traveling with it to other venues that have the potential of causing transit or raindamage to a very expensive or brand new instrument.

Unless otherwise stated, all such items being offered by us here on , are used and are being sold “AS IS, and "WHERE IS”. Most of our school surplus items come to us without much of a description, nor any manuals of any kind. This item, as you can see from the photos in the thumbnails at the top of the page, was an instrument used by many.Diligent care was apparently not part of thetraining of these students. As you can most likely appreciate, items of this nature, do in factget used to their full potential in a public school system. This one, however, with its recent estimate for repairs, should be ready to go without spending too much additional money. Again, there are more than enough scratches, dings and dents. The operating condition of this item, as well as others that we have acquired via school surplus,is almost always unknown. We try, where we can, to check out or operate most all of our items.

Also inacknowledging the missing mouthpiece, we must also declare ignorance of this particular instrument, andwe can not be certain as to the completeness of this item. Again, we have not thoroughly checked out this particular item, through use,but have had it checked out by aprofessional brass instrumentrepairdealer. He has indicated therepairs listed above to get it ready for marching band, for that reason,we have listed it, and must sell it “AS IS”. We will try to answer as many questions as we can from our prospective buyers but ..... if the information is not in the listing, it is because we do not have it. If you can point us in the direction you wish us to go ... we\'ll check it for you, otherwise, a personal inspection is highly recommended for this item.

If you should choose not to inspect this item, you are doing so at your own risk, and will still be responsible for following through with all aspects of the sale process if you are high buyer. We wish to point out that this particular item is, and or was,VERY VERY expensive new, at nearly $2500 retail. We have "adjusted" our minimum offer for its shortcomings, with regard to the dings, dents, and scratches, missing mouthpiece, used carrying case, and the fact that we really can not guarantee with any degree of certaintyexactly what your particular dealer will charge to restore this item, as well as the fact that wemust sell itAS IS. This isattested to, by our VERY VERY low minimum offer, and more than reasonable "Buy It Now" offer.

PLEASE NOTE: This item, as depicted in the photos in the above thumbnails at the top of the page,is exactly what you will receive. Please review all photos. Just give them a "click" to enlarge. Agaim there isalso NO mouthpiece, manual or any other accessories being included. If you don\'t see it in the photos, you will not receive it.

Again copied aboveis information on this item that we have collected throughother sources, and or the manufacturer, it is meant to to give you an idea as to whatfeatures and/or specifications might be found onthis particular instrument that you are offerding on. This should permit youto do your comparitive shopping. Please, however, do NOT rely on thecontent seen below as your only source. We are NOT amusic store, nor a musician. At best,we have a special knack for "cutting and pasting", therefore, PLEASE check with your musical instrumentdealer to get absolutelypositive information as to thevalue of this instrument, or what can be expected in the way of maintenace after purchasingthis used item. Thanks for taking a look at this unique, and at one time ... a very expensive item. If you\'re our winning buyer, we\'ll shipthis instrument to you right away via FEDEX Ground.
