Up for offer is a old C.G. Conn Ltd. Elkhart Indiana USA brass cornet 6A with the original stinky hard case. We got this at an Estate Sale and I first thought this was a trumpet, but the lady told us it was her belated husband\'s cornet. The exact age is not known. Please excuse the glares, white spots or shadows. We let this air out for 3 days, but it still has that old smell but not as strong as it was. The cornet is in very good pre-owned used working condition. It has the original aged patina, a couple minor dents, and I believe it may be missing the third valve ring, but there are no chips, cracks, splits or repair. The valves move up and down fine. This is an old cornet and it would probably be wise to have it cleaned and looked at by a professional. The cornet is marked under the short mouth pipe receiver shaft 6 A, the #2 valve is marked with a serial number that appears to be 77742, and the bell is fancy engraved by the mfg. and the original U.S. Navy owner; MADE BY * C.G. Conn Ltd. * ELKHART IND. * U.S.A. ~ \"Russ\" U.S.N. * 227-06-90. The mouthpiece is a handmade Rudy Muck Cushion Rim 18M. The original hard case has seen better days and is starting to fall apart, but it is included. The cornet measures approx. 17\" long from bell to mouthpipe receiver and 4 5/8\" wide across the bell. Folks, this is a very good old Conn brass cornet and it would go wonderful in a collection.
