Vintage CHAMPION Refrigerator-Prewar?-Unique Small Size-Repurpose-BAR?-CABINET?:
$135.00

Vintage CHAMPION refrigerator. Please look at photos as they are part of description. Made in Los Angeles by the Champion Refrigerator Co. Probably late 1930\'s to very early 1950\'s. I was not able to find any info regarding this company. Nice stainless steel tag on bottom. Possibly immediately after WWII when LA had a lot of small manufacturers pop up. Unique small apartment size. 40\" tall, 23\" wide, and 21\" from back panel to handle. It was working, cold, and being used when unplugged. 110 volt. Looks much worse that it is. Some age related dirt and surface rust. Insulated walls and door. This has very simple construction. Steel sheet metal nailed to a wood frame. Built like a tank and very solid. Very heavy at 140 pounds. The single curved top and side piece is simply sheet metal laid on the wood and nailed down under the 2 aluminum moldings. Curved top means no bending. Metal is straight but has surface rust. It would be much easier to remove the piece and replace. Would look great with a fresh painted piece or even a sheet of thin polished stainless steel. Moldings are good and are held down with screws. The double wall door is straight except for a small ding from the inside. Looks like the back of the door is nailed to wood also so it would be possible to separate the door halves if needed, 3 front pieces of sheet metal around door opening are nailed also and one has a small area of rot. Insides are fairly clean and everything looks to be there. All the seals are worn.Great cast Champion badge that is solid and will clean up or good to restore with new plating. Handle works fine and should clean up and only get better. Hinges are OK but one is missing it\'s decorative cover. Motor, condenser, and wiring look OK but should definitely be checked if put back into service. This would make a great Cabinet or Bar. Great styling and size. It is a project but has lots of potential!Sold as Local Pickup Only. It is heavy! I am in Los Angeles. If you have a shipper I will work with them. Any questions, please ask!
