Curtis-Mathes Model B636R, serial number 1242874 purchased new by my father in August of 1977 from Hitt Television in Boise Idaho. At the time, this was one the best television/entertainment centers you could buy. American craftsmanship at it\'s finest! It has a television with remote, am/fm stereo tuner amplifier with large built in speakers, turntable, 8 track tape player and cassette tape player.
The am/fm stereo works well and has wonderful sound with full volume with no distortion. The cassette tape player works as well, but could use a good cleaning. The turn table is not working, but the needle is energized when the tuner is set to phono, however the platter does not rotate. Possibly a broken belt? The 8-track tape player lights up but will not play a tape or switch tracks. The TV does not come on and no channel indicator lamps light. The remote is included and is shown in the picture the cassette player. Try losing that remote in your couch!
I would keep it, remove the TV and the 8 track and put in a flat screen and DVD player and repair the turntable but just do not have the space! Or remove the TV and have storage for several hundred albums. The cabinet is in beautiful condition, with no scratches that I can see. It has been in the same location in the family room since it was purchased new 37 years ago.
A complete set of operator\'s manuals with schematics for each device including the remote, the original warranty and service contract are included. The unit is 80.5 inches long by 22.25 inches deep 40 inches tall. I am not sure of the weight, possibly 300 lbs (?) but it is on small rollers. Two furniture dollies should be enough to move it. If you would like it shipped, please make arrangements with a shipper of your choice. I would recommend having it placed in a crate.
