Back in the day
this was the table hockey game that every boy made a b-line at the toy store. Safe to say, this was the model that every young hockey fan was hoping to see under his tree on Christmas Day 1968. Sometimes life gives you a second chance. If you missed out as a kid, here's the chance to put the same game under your tree this Christmas! This 1968 Eagle Toys Mr. Hockey National table hockey game is in outstanding condition as you can see in the pictures below.
You'll find 26 pictures of this gorgeous game below this
Take a look at the pictures and try not
falling in love with this game's awesome design. The
playing surface is absolutely gorgeous. The original paint has not been touched up and shines factory fresh. Wear and tear is virtually non-existent and as you can see, the "ice" shines like new! The all-metal frame is in a league of its own! There is no rust and there are no noticeable dents! Paint loss is minimal and found mainly where you'd expect it, on the edges and where the game legs and scoreboard supports attach. The beautiful, full color logos on each side of the frame preserve the
hey day of the NHL immediately after its bold expansion west of the Mississippi for the 1968 season.
This game would look at home in a museum, but unlike a museum piece, you won't be able to resist the urge to play because it plays like new. The playing surface is nearly as flat as it was when this game left the factory more than 40 years ago! The
tin players glide back
and forth in their slots easily without binding up against the playing surface.
look at the pictures, try to keep in mind that this game is nearly half a century old! Don't let its age fool you because this game still plays lightning fast, the way it was designed to. The defensive layout allows play behind the net to
keep play alive and you'll enjoy the tight checking game.
Underneath the player control mechanisms work like new.
Each of the control rods was removed so that the control mechanisms could be thoroughly
inspected, cleaned and replaced as needed. Game play is silky
smooth. Nothing is missing and
nothing needs to be replaced. The underside of the metal frame is
completely rust free. The springs have been lubricated
for trouble free play. The original wiring that connects the battery compartment to the light receptacle behind each net is in excellent condition as you find out when you read on.
original goal nets are in mint condition! Each net is 100% free of cracks or breaks in its
frame and netting. Each
net also has all of its tabs that connect to the playing surface.
This model was made the last season that Eagle Toys used real lights behind each net that would light up when you scored a goal. Well, I'm happy to tell you the 43 year old wiring works as good as new. Take a look at the pictures and you'll see the proof. The flashlight bulbs in the pictures were purchased at a local hardware store and that's all you'll need to buy on your own.
The original overhead scoreboard is in excellent condition and comes complete with both cardboard score dials and the two metal scoreboard supports. There are no cracks or breaks in the plastic and the scoreboard stands perfectly over the top of the playing surface.
Also included, and a very nice finishing touch, are the almost always missing flags and flagpoles, one for each of the twelve teams in the NHL of 1968. Each of the flags is in excellent condition as you can see.
tin men representing a Class of '68 battle between the Minnesota North Stars and Philadelphia Flyers are in very good, game used condition. Each tin man is free of rust and major bending. Paint loss is consistent with light game play.
So what do you do if you find yourself down a goal in the closing minute of a game against your best bud? You call timeout, pull your goalie and put an extra attacker on the ice. The famous Eagle Toys "Last Minute of Play" extra tin man is included as is the post that he attaches to. See the pic.
The original game legs that elevate the game several inches off the table top are included as you can see in the pictures.
The original puck is included as are all of the rubber tips that you hold on to, to control the players.
