These classic ENGLISH cast iron balance scales are in very good condition. They have been used though so do not expect them to beperfect.
They are a nicesize, 12” wide and 8” high, not taking up too much room on your worktop.
There issome discolourationto the brass pans.Brass is soft and when potentially corrosive stuff, like salt, is placed in the pan and not wiped clean a reaction happens and the surface of the brass is affected. Sometimes it can be almost all removed but it rather depends on how long the stuff was left in there. Almost every bowl I come across has some similar marks.
There are alsoa fewdents in the small pan made from the underside.
I doubt the brass bell weights are original to the scales orthatthey are a matching set.The small ones would go missing and were replaced.You will notice that the three smallest weights do not have holes and this is entirely usual.
